Why is e-rostering important?

Hospital Staff are the most important asset to NHS Trusts who are obliged to meet the right balance between patient safety, cost and efficiency.

e-Rostering must be used in the right way to foster changes in culture and modern society help staff make changes working on the frontline. e-Rostering provides an overview across the organisation, not only month by month, but day to day — identifying critical areas that hotspots requiring intervention to ensure safe staffing levels and efficient deployment of staff.

Lord Carter Report

Lord Carter’s review of efficiency in hospitals suggests how large savings can be made by the NHS. The final report, Productivity in NHS hospitals, sets out how non-specialist acute trusts can reduce unwarranted variation in productivity and efficiency to save the NHS £5 billion each year by 2020/21.

Carter’s recommendations are easily identifying areas of improvement in
e-rostering practices. The benefit this brings is that the right staff with the right skills will be in the right place at the right time, so patients receive the care they need, and trusts can better manage their workforce and financial efficiency.

In his letter to the secretary of state prefacing the report, Lord Carter outlines five key points

Recommendations:

  • The provision of high quality clinical care and good resource management go hand-in-hand.
  • A single reporting framework should be adopted across all trusts, which pulls together clinical quality and resource performance data and compares it to the ‘best in class’.
  • Delayed transfers of care have a significant impact on achieving efficiency savings.
  • The need for genuine local and national collaboration and coordination.
  • Rapid adoption of the review recommendations is paramount.

Eliminate manual input rosters and reduce human errors. With a single click, it allows Managers to create the optimal shift based on all variables/inputs such as: Schedule, the Employees availability, the Job types, Skillsets & Employee work rules.

Employee Availability

When an employee inputs their work availability, managers and supervisors can view exactly who is available for a particular shift should an employee shortage occur because of absenteeism or unexpected circumstances.

Skills Mapping

Helps eliminate manual input rosters and reduce human errors. With a single click, it allows Managers to create the optimal shift based on all variables/inputs such as: Schedule, the Employees availability, the Job types, Skillsets & Employee work rules.

Employee Tradeboard

Enables an employee to offer up a job/shift if they are unable or wish not to do it. An employee can select any future job that they are scheduled for, and offer it up to a trade board. Other employees can access the trade board, and take-up the offered job if they wish

Employee Scheduling

A powerful feature within our eSolve solution that enables employees to indicate that they are willing to work jobs/shifts if the originally assigned employee becomes
unavailable and needs to be replaced.

Is eSolve a Standalone Application?

eSolve can operate as a standalone application. For any feature needed to support the schedule, (such as adding employees, absences and so on), it is possible for users to manually maintain these through the eSolve interface.

eSolve suits larger organisations where other systems (T&A, HR, Payroll) exist separately and eSolve plugs-in easily to them. eSolve will deal with the specific area of scheduling, while these other related areas will be managed in other systems and data will follow in and out of eSolve as required

Integration

Integration is at the heart of eSolve. While eSolve will easily handle any scheduling-related requirements, it will more than likely form just one part of the overall Employee Management solution. In that regard, we understand customers will need data to flow seamlessly in and out from eSolve.
